Homesick Angels Farm is a small, family-owned and operated sporthorse breeding farm, nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Cascade Mountains in western Washington. We are Rick and Kate Triplett, and our horses are our life's passion.
We have been raising and selling sound, sane, athletic and talented horses for over twenty years, using Appendix Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred mares selected for good minds, conformation and pedigree to produce youngsters suited to go on as hunters, jumpers, event and dressage horses - or anything else their owners care to do with them. We first began seriously targeting the sporthorse niche in 1994, with our champion colt, RK Paratrooper, lovingly remembered as "Troops" . 1994 was also the year we first became interested in the Irish Draught, and joined IDHSNA, as member number 39. For years we searched, looking at stallion prospects across the globe – but nothing quite captured our fancy, until…..
In 2004, we went all out, purchasing a purebred Irish Draught stallion prospect, Manu Forti's Touch Down, as a weanling foal from Simone and Doug Mackay of Manu Forti Farms. "Ollie" is bred from the best of the Irish Draught, being a son of the very successful stallion, Touch of the Blues and out of the outstanding Select Hornby Premium mare Kerryoak Lady Dawn RID.
In 2005 we made the "jump" to an all Irish Draught Sporthorse breeding program, and all our broodmares have been bred only to approved Registered Irish Draught (RID) stallions since then. We have shown our foals to promote the breed, going up against the best warmbloods the Northwest has to offer, and often winning over them!
In September of 2007, Ollie was inspected and approved as RID - Registered Irish Draught - by the Inspectors from the Mother Society in Ireland. This provides full breeding approval for his get to be registered with the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America (IDHSNA) and with the Irish Draught Horse Society of Canada. Oliver is of very traditional Irish Draught type, with a kind and loving disposition, tremendous bone, size and substance, correct structure and movement, and a lovely refined head. He is truly a joy to live with! See Ollie here.
We currently have three IDSH daughters of Ollie here at home, his first two foals are coming four years, and his latest daughter will be two in the spring. They are undoubtedly the finest we have ever raised.
We also have several wonderful young Irish Draught Sport Horses of various ages by other RID stallions, ready to go on to new homes. Please see our "For Sale" page and check out the youngsters on the Rising Stars page, who are still not of age to leave us.
Rick's business for well over two decades has been in construction and renovation of riding arena footings and equine facilities.
